Adrian Dantley was one of the most prolific basketball players of all time. Scoring 23,177 career points, he ranks 17th on the NBA all-time scoring list -- ahead of such greats as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Dr. J and Elgin Baylor. Dantley was a six-time All-Star and was voted to the starting team five of those six years. During his 15-year career, he won two NBA scoring championships (1981, 1984), averaged 30 points per game (ppg) or better four times, was named NBA Comeback Player of the Year (1984), was named to the All-NBA Team twice, and was Rookie of the Year in 1977.

Dantley led the league in free throws made five times (78, 81, 82, 84, 86), ranked in the top 10 in field goal percentage four times (1980-82, 1986), and led the league in minutes played in 1981 (3,417). He holds NBA records for free throws made in a game with 28 (tied with Wilt Chamberlain), and for most free throws made in a quarter with 14 (84). Dantley also holds the NBA record for the fewest field goal attempts --18.2 per game -- to average at least 30 points (83-84). He holds one of the highest field goal averages for a non center .540 percent.

In addition, Dantley was a two time collegiate First Team All-American, and also led the USA to the Gold Medal in the 1976 Olympic Games scoring a game-high 32 points in the championship game against Yugoslavia.
