Finally!

The Utah Jazz announced today No. 4 will be retired April 11--Adrian Dantley will finally receive the honor and respect he deserves. Larry Miller in an interview with 1280 The Zone this evening said "Dantley should be in the Hall of Fame--he had a Hall of Fame career."

It was obvious from Miller's comments regarding the decision that he finally grasped the information which overwhelmingly shows A.D. deserves the honor. Miller also indicated people constantly inquired as to why the Jazz had not retired No. 4. Whether or not Fans 4 Dantley had any impact is not important, what is important is that through our efforts we expressed our appreciation when Dantley had been forgotten. We salute the Jazz for retiring A.D.'s number and hope this is an important step toward the Hall of Fame.

Why isn't Dantley in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame?

Considering he is the only eligible player among the top 25 scorers in NBA history not inducted, it raises a number of questions. Statistically, there's no question Dantley belongs.

What will it take to get A.D. inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame? Because the names of the 24 members of the committee who vote each year are kept anonymous, it is difficult to lobby these decision makers. Although Dantley fell short for the fourth time in 2006, sources indicate the vote was closer than years past so there is optimism for the future.
